Another Walk Through the Neighborhood

Nothing like a clear, crisp afternoon for a spin around the 'hood wiff Da Beandog.

I love these birdhouses.

Lovin' the fall flowers as well.

This crumbling seawall has definitely seen better days.

This stairway was knocked a bit cattywumpus by Hurricane Irene.

Tons of scallop shells on the beach.  We are very particular about how that is pronounced, by the way.  It's "SCAH-lup".  Non New-Englandahs tend to say it with a more Chicagoesque accent, which is incorrect.

A closer look at that funny stove on the dock under the bait shop.

Buttermilk Bay Beach, Buzzards Bay, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.  Say THAT 5 times fast.  lol

Cormorants and cars on the Cranberry Highway bridge.

The one lone flower in my yard.

  1. Cattywumpus? What's that when it's at home?

    That skeleton is spooky.

  2. OK I spelled it wrong, it's 'cattywampas'. It means 'askew'.

  3. Lovely photos! You live in a very lovely place. :-)

Btw, how do Chicago folks pronounce scallop? I don't know if I've ever heard anyone pronounce it any other way....

  4. Well, the only way I can write it out would be to say that people outside New England usually pronounce the 'a' like they would in 'cat', instead of 'all'.

  5. You could probably make MY decrepit dock look good! (deteriorating rapidly as it has been high & dry under our current drought conditions)
    Translation: great photography

LOL, I haven't heard someone say 'cattywampus' in a coon's age. Because my voice is low I usually say most words with a short 'a' rather than a long one that feels uncomfortable on my throat. Like NEV-AWWW-DA as opposed to NEV-AHHH-DA.
