Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Let the Faire Begin!

The squeeze and I picked a glorious Sunday in September to visit the King Richard's Faire renaissance festival, in Carver, MA. 2011 is the 30th year.  I'd never been to this ren fest before, even when I lived here in the 80's.  It was a ton of fun!!!  Here is Part 1:

We got there right after they opened at about 10:45 a.m. so it wasn't yet crowded and we were able to walk around leisurely and see everything.

He willingly posed in the stocks, but wouldn't surrender his beer.  Note the ultra close scalping haircut. That would be my handiwork.  In my defense, I told him I'd never cut hair before....fortunately it's growing back quickly.

I was so far away in the back of the tiger show that this was the only decent photo that I shot.  It's a very popular show and was crowded.  We were standing all the way in the back. I was thinking about Val and how much she would have enjoyed it.

We caught the end of this show and these guys were very, very funny and great jugglers.

Stay tuned for Part 2.

  2. Ren fair? Is that re-enactment? It's interesting that the theme is medieval before Europeans even found the Americas.

Sorry, JoJo, I love tigers but don't like to see them as performing stunts. This one would be better off in a breeding programme.

  3. Val, I had no idea you didn't like the tiger shows. These didn't perform stunts though, each one was brought out on stage and introduced to the crowd w/ info about the individual cat and tigers in general. The handlers did bring bottles of formula for the baby tigers. The platforms they stood on were just to elevate them.

The haircut isn't so bad...I always say that it grows back so no worries.
