I didn't think it looked like ivy either, but I've only ever seen it green in the summer so I assumed it was ivy. I'm not very good at botany, I confess.
Yes, the Empress is an amazing hotel, but very expensive and snooty. High end shops inside, formal afternoon tea, etc.
I remember going passed The Empress!! The UK have had a beautiful autumn, but November has positively 'raged' in, and blown most off the leaves from the trees now, so it's nice to see a colourful reminder :0)
That looks nice on the building, but I am not a fan of ivy. I have some in the backyard that is out of control and I can't stand it. I keep thinking it's going to creep through a window and strangle me while I'm sleeping at night!
Nantz, ivy is the only thing I can grow without killing. lol I love it actually. I love those olde English manors covered in ivy. We had some growing up one of the Douglas fir trees out front. It was all around the trunk and it looked soooo cool. But, we were afraid it'd weaken the tree, causing it to fall on our house in a windstorm, so we had to strip it all out.
