Burnt Sienna......

Those are some of the original Crayola colours!!

I am sure I had the stand-up, basic style of Crayolas, but I also had a set exactly like these. I remember Sharon, Diane & I colouring at the kitchen table at my Aunt's house, with our giant crayon boxes that took up more than half the table when all 3 covers were flipped open.

I have tried several times to describe the box of crayons, and no one knows what I'm talking about. To my utter shock and delight, one of my fave people, Gail, posted these pics on Facebook the other night. Gail lived down the street from me and she used to babysit me when I was in elementary school. My fave babysitter too, I might add. I am sure she and I used one of these same boxes of crayons to colour & draw when she sat for me.
I'm not sure where she found this set, as they have never been used. I begged her to leave them pristine. Gail is so sweet: She feels bad not using them because they aren't fulfilling their crayon destiny. ;)
Because I'm buying back my childhood one toy at a time, I found a used set of these on eBay. Some of the crayons are worn down but they are still in decent shape. The auction ends in a few days. Wish me luck!

  2. I remember Crayola...

The colour titles are rather poetic, don't you think? Well I think you do ;)

  3. I don't have room to buy back my childhood, but I remember seeing MY ACTUAL dolls on sale in an antique store in Rochester, Kent once. My mum gave them away to the children of a workmate, I think, either that or they went to my nieces. Either way, they ended up in this shop. I knew they were mine - the bride doll had the different shoes I'd put on her, and the black "mama" doll had a set of eyelashes missing, and the wrong outfit (the original was lost on Christmas Day, presumed thrown out with the wrapping paper).

I wish now I had bought them back.
