Sumner's "Big Yellow Taxi"

Isn't this a pretty fall scene? This is the pumpkin patch in Sumner, just down the hill from Bonney Lake.
Beautiful wooded ridge with a field of pumpkins and corn.

The pumpkin patch as seen from Highway 410, going back up to our house. These were taken in 2001.
And here's the same property, as of May, 2010.

Trees are being torn down to build MORE houses with million dollar views. As if we don't have enough empty homes sitting around as it is. That's right, keep destroying the land. I hope we have a good, wet winter that causes mudslides.

That's where the red barn used to be.
"Don't it always seem to go,
You don't know what you've got till it's gone.
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot..."

  2. I'll take spots on my apples - give me the birds and the bees.

How prophetic. And still they don't stop. They are still determined to build in the Thames gateway, which will put every new home on a flood plain. They already drained the Erith Marshes. They think they've tamed nature.

  5. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. WHAT IS WRONG WITH FOLKS? THIS BULLCRAP TOO, IN ADDITION TO THE THE OIL SPILL. WHICH BY THE WAY IS STILL GUSHING MILLIONS OF BARRELS OF OIL INTO OUR OCEANS, RIVERS, STREAMS. DESTROYING EARTH. WHEN I SEE THINGS LIKE THIS, IT MAKES ME WANT TO DISENFRANCHISE MYSELF FROM THE HUMAN RACE!!!!! NO CHEERS TODAY.

Where I live, near the River Trent, they've already built on the flood plain (which is as huge as that of the Amazon I'm told), and then, there's surprise when things get flooded. We also have lots of 'green belt' land, which is supposed to be 'protected' by law, BUT a large swathe of that is also now being built on. Once upon a time, Sherwood Forest reached all the way to the City of Nottingham - but not any more of course!! Makes you wonder sometimes if we're well on the way to having a 'Tree Museum'.....
