I'm running out of shoes to drop.....

And the fun never ends.

Please think good thoughts, say prayers, send good karma, whatever, because my boss, Steve, went in for a routine angiogram and has to have open heart surgery, TODAY. You guys know how fond I am of him. I wouldn't work for someone this long if I didn't like him, and we are really like family.

I'm sure he'll be fine. The surgery is so routine these days and I think they do it w/ lasers now too. Still, you can't mess with your ticker. It's always a concern. It was just a bit of a shock to be blindsided with this news today, when we expected him to be at work tomorrow.

He'll be out of the office at least a month, and Deb and I are scrambling to clear his schedule.
Well, gotta run!!!

UPDATE: Surgery went well. He had a double bypass and one of the arteries was badly blocked. But the doctors are extremely optomistic.

  2. Thanks Val. The thing is, he was totally asymptomatic. He was only doing these tests to establish a baseline b/c of his family history. That's why we are so blindsided.

  3. A friend of mine is going to hospital tomorrow to have an angiogram as well. I keep my fingers crossed for him and for your boss. Everything will be alright, I'm sure of it.

  7. Hi Tamara! How are you doing? I hope your friend's angiogram goes well today.

Liz - His wife called at 7:30 to say that Steve was already awake and joking around. Typical Steve.

Fen - He had a blast. His pictures were great. I hope Michigan can pull off a win this week for him!

Bryde - Thanks so much. Looks like he's out of the woods and just into the recovery phase now.

  11. I've been hearing so many good things about how well people do after this surgery. I'm really relieved. And the legal community has been really nice, many calling to say that if we need anything at all, they'll cover Steve's cases, so that's cool. I don't think anyone is going to be asshole enough to try and set a hearing this month!

i'm fine, thanks for asking. :)

my friend is also doing great, he was mighty relieved once it was all over and that the doctors didn't keep him at the hospital right away. he was in some pain all weekend, but at least the doctors said his arteries and everything looked alright.

  17. Glad Steve is doing better and is getting a second chance. The heart is some scary shit, my mom had a quadruple bypass last year after a series of "silent" heart attacks. She finally broke down and called 911 after an hour of intense pain. They told her if she had waited any longer they wouldn't have been able to save her.
