Enough is Enough

I wish we were getting some of the snow they got in the Cascades over the past 2 weeks. The plow operators have run out of places to pile the snow. Avalanches, or avalance control work, continue to close the passes intermittently every day. At one point last week, all 4 east/west routes thru the mountains were shut down for a few days. People were stuck on either side of the state waiting to cross, or forced to take a 500 mile detour, down into Oregon and along the Columbia River to access either side of the mountains. Personally, I would prefer to be on the road driving then stuck for days, waiting for the roads to open. In a cruel twist of fate, the ski resorts at Snoqualmie and Stevens Passes are having a bumper crop of new snow, but no one can get there. Now all we need is another warm "pineapple express" storm to blow up from Hawai'i, then the snow will melt all at once and we'll have catastrophic flooding. Oh but there's no climate change, not at all.

  2. I know! We've had 2 "Once every 500 years" storms, in back to back winters, up here.

what climate change??? that picture would be so funny if it wasn't so frustrating for the people who have to live through this.

We have lots of lovely powder and quite frankly when you wake up to minus 20F, global warming doesn't seem real.

  6. that writing in the snow is funny! we've had some crazy stuff, we've had 4 snow days already, some for the snow, the recent ones were for fog and the temp being too cold for the kids to be o/ in waiting on the bus...we went o/ tonight it ws kind of slippery, it was snowing, and people were driving sooo slow...i just kept thinking, come on, this is michiana already, it's ALWAYS like this in the winter, get used to it and learn how to drive in it already or get off the roads!! ugh!

  7. Its so strange to be the only one among you all who doesn't have any clue what its like!

Besides the fact that we are burning to a crisp here at the moment, its weird that South Africa has absolutely NO FREAK WEATHER....the worst we get is a mild flood once in 2 years or so.

The snow does look nice and cool though, Jojo. Hhhmm....fresh!

  11. It's gotten very clear and mild here over the past 2 days and they expect it to stay this way thru the weekend, fortunately. I mean, I LOVE the rain but we need to dry out a bit.

Nice and clear here, too. We've been socked with rain over the past month, so it's nice to see blue skies again. That said, winter will never feel quite right without snow. Maybe swing by CA on the way to GA?

  13. Here in NorCal, it's sunny and warm one day and cool, windy and overcast the next. The trees are budding out. I hope we don't get a late frost because that will mean very expensive produce :(
