In the Pink

The thundercloud plum trees are in full bloom!! They are usually the first of the flowering trees to kick off spring in the Pacific Northwest. This stand of trees is along Locust Avenue, less than a half mile from my house, in Bonney Lake.

We have 4 thundercloud plums in our back yard, but these look so much more impressive. It was pouring rain when I shot these at about 4:00 p.m., hence the dark quality. These do not bear plums though. Their leaves are the colour of plums, a really cool dark dusty purple.
The daffodils are coming up in the valley as well, and are being harvested for the annual Daffodil Parade in a couple of weeks.
Spring has sprung!

  1. Wow they are beautiful. I really miss spring. In Florida it seems to come and go in one day. I like the warm but miss the season changes.

  8. Indeed, I'm sneezing and snuffling. I have this same tree in front of my house. It is beautiful and provides much needed shade in the summer.
