Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Where did my energy go? You ask anyone and they will tell you that I used to be one of the most energetic people around. I used to do the Tae Bo tapes every morning before work. I used to clean the house religiously every Sunday. I used to crank out mass quantities of jewelry and crafts on the weekends. I used to do yardwork. I used to wash the dishes before going to bed. I used to have stamina.

I had all these plans for the long weekend. I got out of work at noon on Friday and I did errands and planned to come home and do some crafts. Instead I vegged on the couch all afternoon watching TV w/ Brian, who is still deathly ill. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous; about 62 and sunny. Everyone was outside doing chores and soaking up the sun. I managed to go to Puyallup and pick up a few things, then collapsed on the couch watching TV all day. I couldn't get warm, despite the weather and stayed under my blanket. Went to bed at 8 pm, woke up yesterday at 8 am. I figured cool, I had 12 hours of sleep, maybe I can actually get some stuff done today!

What did I do? Vegged on the couch all day under my blanket, then took a nap from 3:00 to 4:30. I tried to sit upright at my craft table but I was too bone weary. Brian slept all day too but he's sick. Last night I went to bed at 9:45, the lunch AND dinner dishes still piled in the sink. What is wrong with me? Why have I turned into such a slug?

The last time I spent every spare minute sleeping was the year my dad died, and I chalked it up to emotional and mental stress. Could the situation at my job over the past 6 months be catching up with me?

Anyways, just wanted to wish everyone a happy Mardi Gras!! Laisser le bon rouleau de temps!! And a happy Chinese New Year! Gung Hay Fat Choy! (or as Brian says, "Suck my fat toy").

  1. Maybe you just need a recharge...your body will take it even if your head doesn't want it to.

I dreamed about you this weekend. It was funny because Michael Rosenbaum was hanging out with me (FINALLY!) and you were waiting outside in your car (we were going somewhere) and I was like "Okay Jojo,I'll go with you but Rosenbaum is in the house,so hurry it up!".

    julie...

It could be the time of year that has got you lagging. Although I stay as active as possible this time of year, I still go through periods of depression and equate it to winter blahs/blues. Hang in there, the longer days should hopefully help you.

  4. Maybe you could get your blood tested for thyroid and diabetes, JoJo, that's what the docs used to do to me whenever I complained of fatigue.

    Now I'm just lazy!

Hey, I used to do Tae Bo too, 3 times a week religiously...then Vincent arrived in my life and...well, I'm sure he'd enjoy my 'extra comfortable upholstery' these days :0(
I think sometimes you just feel a little burned out hon. It passes, eventually.

  6. well that was weird... i just tried leaving a comment and it didnt work. well what i was tryin to say is maybe you're getting sick? or the lack of energy could be related to the fluctuation of the anti-depressant medication? if it doesnt go away maybe you should see a doctor?

lol, i sound like a doctor myself haha.

    hey Jojo,
I feel the exact same way. What really bugs me is that when my energy rebounds it lasts for such a short time now and takes longer to come back.
I think stress you just had, Brian being sick, the weather, and the need for a real vacation all have gotten to you at once. Feel better!

I feel a bad case of the winter blahs.

I have not been motivated to do much (except stuff for my AP Lit, Pre-Calc, and my politics classes) and when I finally do it, I'm like, "Why? I'm a second semester senior, and I don't see why this matters anymore. I know what I'm studying next year, and there's no f*cking way THIS is it." (I say that mostly in reference to math. Because I'll need to know what cos is equal to when squared and subtracted from 1 in the near future... *rolls eyes*)

Hopefully after vacation next week I'll be a bit recharged. Because I hate feeling lazy. Sound like you could use a real vaca somewhere too...

Picture yourself somewhere in the tropics with VDO, and then when (note: I say "when", not "if") Brian nags you about it, tell him that Emmy Rossum is waiting on the veranda.

  11. Hope you feel better soon :-)

Best advice I can think of....Don't stress about it,and everything will go back to normal eventually.Mind you ,this is coming from someone who used to clean the house before the kids got up...these days I'm more likely to be sat at the pc before they get up :-)

i gave myself permission to take it easy for a while because the stress of trying to be supermom was wearing me out

  12. Take it from your cousin,,,,it is a combination of winter blahs and YOUR AGE. Yeah, baby, you're over 40 now! Body changes. You know I am way over 55 and one day I feel like 18 and the next I am falling asleep on the couch by 8. Fatigue comes on a little at a time. Time marches on! Try 25 kids per day, 5 animals for stress!
