Dueling Cemeteries

Sheila and I went back out to visit some more old cemeteries, this time in Sandwich and Sagamore.  This is the oldest one in town and one of my faves to shoot.  It was a very tropical day, with high humidity and rain showers off and on so my lens fogged up when I got out of the car and made for some ethereal pictures.

Shawme Pond during a rare moment of sun.

Across from the cemetery.

Then we went to Sagamore.

Despite always hearing that the early settlers didn't live past 50, I have not found that to be the case.  This lady was 94 when she died in 1841.

This reads a bit funny but it's supposed to be "Grieve not that I repose in peace!"

Late Summer Crafties

After we had to put Sagan down, I wanted a very quick project to pass the time that first week.  This has a few glass beads on it too.

3 wooden HP models/kits

I did a couple custom necklaces for Sheila.

Metal Earth Dalek model.

Finished up the beadpoint and backing.

Hey it fits!  Yay me!

Picked up some funky pops in OH and this was one of my faves.  So good! Wish I'd gotten more.

One of my fave movies is 'Paper Moon', and my fave scene in it features the line,  'Now drink your Nehi and eat your Coney Island', which is said a few times.  I'm not a hot dog eater, but I had the Nehi from OH, so I couldn't resist. I know that this isn't a true 'Coney Island' hot dog but neither was the one in the movie.  It was just a generic term for hotdogs.

This the hallway at the hotel we stayed at, Red Roof Inn in Middletown.

I asked my FB friends if anyone could photoshop the Shining Twins.  They did not disappoint.

"Hello Joanne.  Come and play.  Come and play with us Joanne.  Forever.  And ever.  And ever."

Back to Reality

Why do vacations have to go so fast???  We left our hotel around 7:45 and I thought we were going to stop halfway for the night but Russell wanted to try to push for home.  The truck did really well and we experienced no mechanical issues, although it was a very long trip and we didn't get home until 11:00 pm.

Wasn't much to shoot in OH so I started in PA.

Allegheny Mtn. Tunnel

Of course I was determined to shoot this again.

And this one.

It's very pretty in West/Central PA.  Lots of mountains.  Well.....mountains for the east coast.  They're no Cascades....

The next three tunnels come up pretty fast, one right after the other.

Susquehanna River just north of Harrisburg

This is where we hit pretty bad traffic the closer we got to the NY metro area.

Getting there....

Not long to CT from the Tappan Zee.

It was a long drive but we had the best time on this trip and can't wait to go back!
