There's something about the ocean. . .your photos always make me feel better for having seen them. Isn't photography a great way to communicate?D.G. It's been rebuilt countless times since the 1800s. In summer kids jump off the top of the bridge into the creek at high tide. I did a couple times when I was a kid too.JoJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18165375435543044068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30172845.post-3239039565768107372015-05-04T11:17:35.445-04:002015-05-04T11:17:35.445-04:00Given the wear and tear of the boardwalk, I'm ...Given the wear and tear of the boardwalk, I'm amazed that his board is still readable and there, after so many years. The weather is still giving me fits because it's not terribly warm and clear yet, so I haven't started my day trips. I am way, way behind where I was this time last year both in terms of walking and trips.JoJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18165375435543044068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30172845.post-68661029629999194402015-05-02T08:06:33.838-04:002015-05-02T08:06:33.838-04:00Love the pictures! Les is my brother-in-law. Definitely would not be my first choice as husband material, but my sister loves him. Where did you live in the SF Bay area? I lived in Livermore in the '80's. Sometimes I miss it, sometimes I don't. I do miss SF itself. A nightmare to drive in, but I love that city.Heather, aka: Big Auntiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02464541911809962354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30172845.post-75599899827861153992015-05-01T09:38:09.184-04:002015-05-01T09:38:09.184-04:00Well I think they build those structures specifica...Well I think they build those structures specifically for the osprey to nest in...you see them all over in the marshes now. They sold the planks to raise money to rebuild the boardwalk. It gets heavily damaged and needs to be rebuilt about every 10-12 years. I had one I purchased in 1991 for $10 then in the early 00s my parents told me all the old boards were being torn off and thrown away for another rebuild. I contacted the town and asked if I could have my board and they said no, they were being thrown out but I could buy a new one for $75. I passed. My parents have a new board though, so does my uncle.JoJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18165375435543044068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30172845.post-55108533498820367462015-05-01T08:15:10.101-04:002015-05-01T08:15:10.101-04:00Always fascinates me the way these birds place the...Always fascinates me the way these birds place their nests in such precarious places. I was fascinated in Portugal to see all the heron nests all over the place. Lovely to see your pics - didn't know one could have memorial planks placed in a boardwalk. I miss the sea.Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14087140585742801854noreply@blogger.com
